A nervous sigh emerged from Renata's lips, as she hesitated to knock on the door. She probably hadn't made a good first impression on the Cullens. Shouldn't they be happy about her wanting to learn more, about their diet? But, what if word got back to Volterra? Then, I might get into trouble. What Aro would think, is the important question Renata thought, nerves nearly consuming her. The constant 'what ifs' continued swirling in her mind, as her fist met the door, knocking it lightly. The vampire felt ready to answer the few questions, which would probably be asked. Stuff like "Who sent you?" "What do you want?", should've been quite easy to reply to. But if it went anything past that, she'd probably just run away. No more chance at a different lifestyle.

Jasper had been flipping through a boxful of Emmet's videogames, trying to find one that he both hadn't played before and that wouldn't bore him to death from the start. Given this current collection it didn't look like he would find something that filled both requirements, though. They needed to go shopping again.
Grinning at the differences that the word implied, depending on who used it, he threw the games back into the box and pushed it to the back of the closet. That was when someone knocked on the front door. Despite being upstairs the sound was clearly audible of course.
In a flash, Jasper was downstairs, silently berating himself for not having paid attention. It wasn't much of a safety issue, but still he did not feel comfortable with someone being able to sneak up to the house without being detected. There had been no car, and family and those of the pack who sometimes visited did not bother to knock. Which did not leave a lot of choices about what might be out there.
When he opened the door, he did not bother to block the entrance in any way, like a human would have done. This vampire could break through the wall easily if she wanted to. Actually, her manner of approach could be seen almost friendly - if Jasper weren't so bound to tense when faced with strangers. Old habits die hard. Fortunately, part of those habits were rather old-fashioned manners.
"Hello." he said. "How can I help you?"

Renata now seemed just a bit more nervous. Maybe, deep down she was hoping no one would answer, so she could just run away. No. I need to do this....They can surely keep it confidential. The vampire's red eyes met the eyes of the other. Golden? Golden eyes? That's their significant difference? "Hello. I know this is probably awfully odd," Renata began, still smiling lightly. "But...-Wait. First of all, I'm Renata, as you probably already noticed. Though, it would help me a lot if you kept this visit just a little secret." she immediately shut her mouth, realizing she was probably going on too much. That's one way to annoy people, she scolded herself, silently. Talking non-stop. "I know that you're probably thinking that I'm here to help someone kill you." Continued REnata, after a bit of silence. "The truth is, I feel like there's something wrong about my life. Something I can change, though." She paused, to let out a sigh. "I believe it's..er..My diet. So, when I wanted help switching, you guys were the first people I thought of."

Jasper did not comment on it, but he indeed thought the possibility of Renata being part of another plot to break up and decimate the family most likely. However, as he listened he also felt her emotions. Yes, she was nervous, but there was no aggression. In fact, there was some shyness involved. Edward might have been able to find out for certain, but soon Jasper was almost convinced Renata was telling the truth - as she knew it at least.
He smiled, even though he did not quite relax. "As your luck would have it, I am probably the worst person in the family to help with that." Quickly taking a step back, he reached for one of the coats that hung from the pegs behind the door. Of course, he did not really need it, since the temperate whether cold or warm could not bother him. It was purely a habit, one of those human things the Cullens had adapted to fit in better.
"Let's take a walk." he suggested. Even though he was by now almost sure she did not present an immediate threat Jasper was not yet ready to invite her into the house. Esme could chew him out about hospitality later. "I'll take you hunt, and in the meantime we can talk. Changing your diet is not as difficult as sticking to it by far."
