My Character: Vladimir
Real age: Unknown; Approx. Several Thousand (3000 or so)
Apparent age: 20-30
Gender: Male
Type of being: Vampire
Diet preference: Human Blood
Power: Basic Vampire Abilities
About the Character:
-Physical Description-
Vladimir is beautiful, like all the vampires. He has the tell-tale red eyes of a carnivorous vampire, much like his second, Stefan, and is rather tall. Contrary to the picture, he has semi-fair hair; he prefers to keep it short. He tends to stick with clothing that makes it easier for him to run and fight in, though he refuses to say he is keeping in style with the humans.
-Personality-
- Vladimir is a cold, calculating individual. He normally does not show very much emotion, unless he is alone with his clan, and is considered the “leader” of his three-person coven. He has completely forgotten his human life and, because of that, does not blink at taking the life of a human or two...or six. He has an obsession with destroying/overthrowing/embarrassing the Volturi, and will stop at nothing to do so. In his eyes, they came and took what was rightfully his, and so they deserve to be properly punish. He fondly remembers the old days, and will sometimes go off on a tangent or tell stories of the time when he and Stefan ruled.
-History-
- Vladimir does not remember his human life. The fuzzy, obsolete human memories that one made up his humanity have long since disappeared. Or perhaps he willed them away, not wanting to associate himself with the weakness humanity stands for. To Vlad, his life began when he first awoke a vampire all those centuries ago.
The year has been forgotten, but Vladimir will attest to it being long before the Volturi leader Aro was even born. It was back when demons ruled the night, and humans shook in fear upon hearing the word 'vampir.' His sire found him on a battlefield and, after he was changed, forced the story into his mind that he was a fallen Romanian lord who had been betrayed by his closest allies. Perhaps it is because of this story that he has such a grudge against the Volturi; he believes that they are to his vampire rule what the unknown Judas was to his human life.
He began to roam the battlefields like his sire, though never with him. His sire had left months after creating Vladimir, saying that there were others he could save and return to glory. Vladimir swears his sire was just afraid that Vlad would end his life – a fear that was more than likely justified. And so he roamed the battlefields alone, until he found a dying soldier by the name of Stefan. He bit and turned the soldier; this was the start of his clan.
In the years that followed, Vladimir continued to turn soldiers, until he had a coven of about five. They were his guard, similar to what the current Volturi have, and followed his rule. Only Stefan, who was his second, was given an ear when he had concerns about what was to happen. It was because of this that the two began to set up their empire. It took years, perhaps even an entire century, but soon the two sat atop the vampire world as its lords.
They ruled for many, many years, never hiding their true identity from the world. They were harsh rulers, but they were not unfair. They listened to their subjects and ruled justly. At least when it came to the vampires they did. The humans they were a bit...rougher with. However, their rule did not last forever. In a violet coup d'etat, the Volturi took the vampire world from the Romanians, killing all but Vladimir and Stefan. The two have hated the Volturi ever since.
They roamed Romania and parts of Europe for years, planning the time for when they would retake the world from the Volturi. At one time, they thought they had their chance. There was talk of a fight between the Volturi and a coven of American vampires. They traveled to join in, only to be disappointed when all the tension ended in a conversation. However, Vladimir was delighted to see the Volturi turn tail like frightened children.
Recently, Vladimir has allowed another to join his coven: one Jessamine King. She shows promise in her powers, and is the first in his attempt to strength his coven since that violet takeover.
Creativity
Secrets: His loyalties truly lie with his coven; he would do anything to keep them safe. He sees his coven as the last true reminders of his fallen kingdom, and struggles to lead and take care of them as he did back when he ruled the vampire world. Though he would never admit it to Stefan, if it came between ruling the vampire world again and loosing his clan, or keeping them alive, he would more than likely choose the latter. He is very protective of his coven, and wants no harm to come either Stefan or Jessamine. He is just and fair man, even if no one really sees that side of him anymore.
He also enjoys bathing in the sun, stalking his prey, and listening to Celtic music. Sometimes he even thinks he is the legendary Vlad the Impaler, who was born after the Volturi stole his throne.
Writing Sample:
Did you read the rules?: 'I've never seen someone so prone to life-threatening idiocy.'
(I know in the book he has fair hair, but I couldn't manipulate Chris' hair. I tried, and it just wouldn't work. He still has fair hair, just not...in the pic. :3)

He stood on the ledge of a cliff. His hands were clasped behind him. His posture was straight and proud. He was surveying the town below him, the town that once held his castles. It was there that he and Stefan had ruled for centuries, and it was there that the Volturi had murdered his coven; his family. They had slaughtered them all, leaving only he and Stefan alive.
They called it “mercy.” He called it torment.
He sensed the approach of two vampires and, without turning any other part of his body, turned his head so he could glance over his shoulder. He saw Stefan first, the older vampire leading the way through the forest as the newest member of their clan stumbled behind. Granted, the way she walked was probably graceful for a human, but for a vampire she was rather klutzy. The thought made him snort quietly, and he turned back to the town.
“This area is rich with history.” He heard Jessamine whisper, and couldn't help but release a caustic laugh.
“You honestly have no idea, my dear.” He murmured, glancing over at her. There was a light smirk on his face, a ghost of a smile for days gone by. Vladimir ran his tongue over his teeth, as if he was in deep thought, “What you see here, or more than likely don't see, is what the humans have done to our capital. This was our Volterra. Although we obviously did not call it such. Justiþie we called it. Justice, in your English tongue. Keep that in mind, Jessamine. Always keep that in mind.”
She tilted her head, chin lifting just slightly, and he shook his head, “The Volturi and their followers will lie about our reign. They will lie through their teeth to prevent our return to power. We never put on white hats and called ourselves saints, but we never murdered without reason, either. We were not collectors, as the Volturi are. We admired the powers of others, but we did not want them as our own. And we did not murder those who would not give them to us. Those who defied our rules we dealt with swiftly. I will not deny that.”
He did not feel the need to speak of how they had almost become like the Volturi. He did not care to enlighten her on how he and Stefan had sat for centuries, letting their bodies near petrify. (Truthfully, he doubted their eyes would be clear if the Volturi had given them another century as rulers.)
They may have seen themselves as gods, way back then, but that did not mean that they were heartless gods. Just...gods without a heartbeat. He would never gain that heart back, which was fine because he truly did not want a heartbeat. But he did want his kingdom back. He wanted a second chance.
He wanted to right the Volturi's wrongs.
