Lounging around in the bath house was a normal occurrence for the Volturi. So, it was not a surprise that Aro was soaking his naked body in one of the large baths in the vast room. He snapped his fingers, summoning a servant to remove the ribbon that held up the top portion of his hair. As soon as it was down, a simple glare sent the minion scampering off into the recesses of one of the corners.
"I'm feeling a little melancholic today," he announced loudly to whoever happened to be in the room at the time - not worrying about who was going to bother to reply. He had no doubt that one of his brothers, Marcus or Caius, would have something to say to that - Marcus always seemed to.
He slid under the water, letting the warm water wash over his pale skin for a moment. Then reemerged, exposing his entire top half to the room. His eyes sent a challenged to anyone who dared to stare at his chiseled features; dared someone to even think about approaching him.
Hearing the sound of scampering feet, he tipped his head back and let out a loud, malicious laugh that filled the steamy room. It was a frightening sound; frightening to anyone other than Marcus, Caius, and Jane. The rest were scared to death of him, and he liked it.

Caius sat in one of the baths in the bath house. Up until the moment that Aro spoke, it had been rather silent in the large room. Caius's thoughts were elsewhere, not really thinking about anything but flitting from memory to memory like a butterfly. Though, if his thoughts were a butterfly they were a very deranged one, because most of his memories were very dark. Aro's words brought the free-floating thoughts back to the present.
"Are you looking for entertainment, or merely stating it for the general public?" Caius asked, sitting up more in his bath. He'd been neck deep in the water previously. He'd risen out to the point that his arms now rested on the side of the tub. "The former I can do something about."
Aro had risen out of the tub, and his gaze had sent some of the little minions scampering off in fright. His laughter probably scared off more of them. Caius couldn't blame them. There was a small part of him that feared Aro, feared what his brother would do to get his way and keep his power. It was what kept Caius in line. Whether that was good or bad was hard to say.

Aro's mouth curved into an almost malicious smile as he pondered how best to reply to his youthful brother. Several thoughts rose to the tip of his tongue, yet he waited for another moment. The stiff silence in the room was somewhat amusing to him.
"Does it really matter, Caius? Whatever my true intent was, it has invoked your interest enough to cause a reply," he said with the smile still on his face. "What sort of entertainment do you suggest? I am sure, with your fondness for bloodshed, there are several scenarios that you could think up." Despite Aro's temperament, it was Caius who tended to be the cruelest of the Volturi. Aro only killed to preserve himself, the Volturi and his status. Other than feeding, he tended to shy away from killing.
"It has been a while since we have fed. Have one of the servants procure a meal for us. I could use a good human or two." His face lit up at the idea, a giddy look overtaking his features as he ran his tongue across his razor sharp teeth.

That was very true. Whatever had been Aro's intent in voicing how he felt, he had gotten Caius's attention and had gotten a reaction. Caius hadn't really considered it at the time he had asked, but that could have been Aro's only intent all along. The action could have been nothing but a means to get attention from one of the others in the room.
Caius smiled slightly, the vicious butterfly of thought drifting from scenario to scenario again. "Oh, I could think of several possibilities." His mind flitted over a few until he heard Aro's voice again. It was probably best Caius hadn't voiced the ideas he'd been thinking. Feeding was bloodshed in a form that Aro could tolerate. Caius was the cruelest, and Aro was the leader. One might say that arrangement was the best, so that someone kept Caius in line.
Caius smiled cruelly. "Yes, that does sound like a good idea. It has been quite some time since we last fed. With a snap of his fingers a servant came running. Caius relayed the order to him, despite that all the servants within earshot had probably heard it. He'd be repeating himself, but it hardly mattered. The servant stood there for a moment after Caius gave the order.
"Well, get to it," Caius snapped at him, and the servant turned and ran.

Aro clapped his hands excitedly, like a small child who had just been told he got his favorite food for dinner. The giddy look had transitioned into one of elation, but was no less frightening to the servants in the room. He ran his tongue across his teeth a few more times as he thought of fresh blood running down his throat. He always felt more alive when there was a beating pulse beneath his hungry mouth.
"My mouth is watering just thinking about it," he said in a dreamy tone. Closing his eyes, he slid back down into the warm water of his bath. The look on his face was as close to peaceful as the ancient vampire could look. He was more likely to be confused with a statue than a living being. He didn't even try to pretend to breathe; just sank down into the soapy depths.
