Marcella finished the last page on her book as she sat on her chair, legs dangling off the side of the chair's arm. She had her ankles crossed and felt very relaxed. Her nostrils flared for a moment as she picked up something new. She leaned forward and closed her eyes a moment, before jumping up quickly and looking for Lagos. Upon finding Lagos, a smile crept up her lips. "Hey, you." She wrapped her arms around him gently, eyes soft. "Rodrick's headed this way with someone. I think we should look appropriate for our guests." With that, she kissed his forehead and turned again. She had no idea why they were having an unexpected....well, now, expected...surprise, and again, isn't a surprise any more....anyway....visit from Rodrick.

They left as soon as Jessamine was done with her meal.
To her utmost surprise, she had been told that they were going to run to Rodrick's friends. At first, the newborn vampire was a bit suspicious, and concerned, but as soon as she stepped outside, she knew that it was the way she was supposed to travel. She allowed him to go in front of her, so as to lead the way, and took a deep, albeit useless, breath. Her eyes watched him for what seemed like an hour, though it was really but a milisecond, and then she took off.
Despite the skirt that slapped her calves, threatening to tangle in her legs, Jessamine found very little trouble in running. Despite her blindness, she could still see the forest around her, and was able to dodge and move around the trees that surrounded her. She had never been able to run as a human, not like this, simply because it was not "the proper thing for a lady to do." Now that she could run through the forest freely... It was a whole new experience.
The freedom of running may have been a new experience, but the way she ran was a new sort of life. She could feel the air as it whipped around her body, smoothly keeping her hair from her face. She could hear the birds sing and the animals run from the newcomers in their area. There were so many new things for her to experience, all while running as she did, that it was simply indescribable. And any attempt to describe it would almost understate it, and perhaps even ruin it for her.
She continued to run until, up ahead, she sensed Rodrick stopping. His footsteps slowed beyond the rushed padding she had gotten used to, and so she slowed to a walk as well, though she was rather regretful about it. There would be other times for running, yes, but... That did not mean she wanted to stop now.
But stop she did, and even dug her toes into the loose dirt beneath her feet. Images and whispers filled her mind, giving her a good feel for the area around, and Jessamine allowed a light smile to cross her face. Yes, she was ready now...

As they ran out the door, Rodrick carrying two medium sized suitcases, nothing could bring down his mood. Not even the fact he had to slow his pace significantly to keep from leaving Jessamine behind. She would have easily been seen as graceful to a human, but for a vampire not so much. Then again, Rodrick felt no need to complain. He was simply extatic that Jessamine could run at all. She hadn't hit a single tree or fallen over a high root. So what if her eyes didn't work. Her mind more than made up for her lack of sight. As he approached the old home that Lagos and Marcella were inhabiting, his mind raced with the uses for her newly developed powers. He couldn't wait to get a chance to talk to Lagos. Plans needed to be made. As he walked up onto the front porch, Rodrick knew that they were already expected. After all, he had been the one that brought the two together. How could he not know of Marcella's power. Her ability to sense a visitor coming from miles away. Three quick knocks on the door, and then he waited.

Lagos opened his eyes from meditation at his wife's words and stood up. "We should go greet them, then." He buttoned his nice black shirt over his muscle shirt and took Marcella's hand. They walked out to the family room, their eyes on the door. I wonder what Rodrick wants. Lagos wondered, while they waited. Soon, there was a knock on the door and Marcella looked over at Lagos. He nodded and then went to the door, opening it. His eyes looked over his guests. "Rodrick. We've been expecting you. And who's this?" Marcella glided over to Lagos and leaned close to him. "You should let them in and explain." With that, they both stepped out of the way. Marcella spoke. "Welcome to our home, come on in!" Her tone was enthusiastic, though her expression was a tired one. Lagos draped an arm around her shoulders, smiling at Rodrick and Jessamine.

Jessamine heard the knocks her sire made on the door and quickly moved so she was standing just slightly behind him. As they waited for the owners of this house to answer, the young vampire allowed herself a moment of luxury to scout out the area - using her abilities, of course. She dug her toes into the loose dirt beneath her feet and released a useless breath, letting the images come forth.
The area was rather interesting, even though it had no real impact on the history she knew. She could see the vampires that lived there, see all that they've been through. They were mates, with the male being slightly older than the female. The female was the one with abilities, though, and useful to her mate. But even with the usefulness of the female, Jessamine could tell that there was love, or something very similar, between them. It filled the area, and leaked into her mind.
Before Jessamine could delve any farther, though, the two occupants of this home answered the door, and she was forced to pull herself back into the present. She looked up, tilted her head to the side as their images became stronger, clearer, into her mind. Before they were just faceless images, but now she could see them perfectly. A light smile appeared on her face as they spoke, and Jessamine curtsied slightly when they invited her in. She did not speak, though, as she did not know what all Rodrick wanted to reveal. So she kept her mouth shut.

A smile crossed Rodrick's face when they finally answered the door. "My old friends," he said, "It's been too long." And it really had. So many years had passed since he had last seen Lagos. After staying just long enough to be sure that he was satisfied with Marcella, Rodrick had taken his payment and left. Being near them was too much for him to bear. He hadn't expected, when he had first sensed Marcella's power, that she and Lagos would feel as strongly as they did. He envied them, more than they would ever know. The love he had seen between them was, after all, what had sent him on the search that lead him to Jessamine. He waited at the door, holding the two bags and allowing Jessamine to enter first. He smiled as she curtsied slightly but stayed silent. "The guest room?" he asked... although it was more of a statement. In a flash, he ran up the stairs, tossed the bags on the guest bed and was back at the entryway. "Lagos. Marcella. I would like you to meet Jessamine." His face couldn't help but fill with pride as he introduced them. Gently, he placed one hand on Jessamine's back and led her forward towards them, unsure if she had already seen them through the house's memories or if she would need to touch them personally.

Marcella smiled at the new guests and pointed upstairs at the question. Before she could say a word, Rodrick had already gone. Then, she focused on the new member to the crew here. Rodrick mentioned her name and she grinned. "Jessamine. It's a real pleasure to meet you. My name's Marcella." Lagos looked over at Rodrick for a moment, and focused on Jessamine, smiling. "Why, hello there, Jessamine. My name would be Lagos." He was much more cheerful when greeting guests than Marcella was. Though that was one of the many things he loved about Marcella. With one hand, he took hers in his and held it gently, while his other hand reached out to shake Jessamine's hand. "Welcome."

Jessamine listened as the introductions were made, smiled accordingly. Her ears were there, and part of her mind, but her "sight" was taking her someplace else. It dragged her across the house, showing her every room, showing her the major events that had taken place. She saw the pair that lived her in nearly ever event; she saw the way they looked at each other, felt their love. This, she realized, was what the house was so proud of. It wasn't just a house, but a home to a couple that truly loved each other.
It took Jessamine a moment to realize Lagos was offering out his hand to her. In fact, the house, thankful it finally was able to show its story to someone, was the one to tell her. If she had been able to blush, there would have been a telling pink tiny to her cheeks as she extended her hand to take Lagos's. With a smile on her face, Jessamine lightly squeezed his hand in greeting, then pulled her hand away.
"It is a pleasure to meet you both," the young vampire said honestly, and shifted her gaze to Rodrick. She had to at least look like she was somewhat normal.

Rodrick couldn't help but smile as Jessamine, Lagos, and Marcella all introduced themselves. Pride streaked his face under the ruse of happiness. When her eyes turned up to him, he placed his hand lightly on her shoulder, hoping her power would show her that smile. His smile represented hope and pride and happiness, all the things that he wanted to share with Jessamine in the endless years to come. What a useful mate she would be to him. And so he would do her best to keep her happy. "We've just traveled a long way," he told them, his hand leaving Jessamine's shoulder as his face gave Lagos and Marcella a knowing glance. "Perhaps," he continued, trying to keep his voice from betraying his face, "Perhaps you could show Jessamine around, Marcella. Let her rest up a bit before its time to hunt. I know I'm famished." Rodrick hoped his eyes would communicate that he needed some alone time with Lagos. After all, it wasn't like he could just blurt out Oh, by the way, she's blind, but not really...
